Marie Taglioni, arguably the most famous of the Romantic
ballerinas, was born in Stockholm 1804.

Mikhail Fokine, groundbreaking Russian choreographer and
dancer, was born in St Petersburg 1880.

You're on a roll, Trog. I've often wondered that while classical ballet
is generally considered to have been invented in France, it was the
Russians who really developed it and took it to new heights (pun
intended). The Russian dance companies traditionally seem to merge
athletic prowess (females as well as males) and dance form a tad better
than non-Russian companies do (but I still admire the Royal Ballet).
Sincerely,
