Jerome Robbins, dancer, producer, director and choreogrpaher,
was born in New York City, 1918. He created some of the most
celebrated dance sequences in American musicals, inlcuding
"Call Me Madam", "The Kig And I", "The Pajama Game", "Gypsy",
"West Side Story" and "On The Town".

I was lucky enough to see the revival of "Gypsy" on the London
stage earlier this year. It is still amazing, 45 years after it
was created.

A true genius.

Hello, and I would agree although I never thought of Robbins's stagings
in a classical ballet sense. The dance sequences in "West Side Story"
(the movie) always come to my mind first. And those dances in the 50s
TV production of "Peter Pan" (the one with Mary Martin and Cyril
Ritchard) Probably more Gene Kelly-ish with classical underpinnings.
But hey, we also had Bob Fosse's great stuff. Sincerely,
