Hello, Trog, and all. Caught a great B&W 1955 video of subject in a pas
de dix from "Raymonda" on Classic Arts Showcase on cable last weekend.
Perhaps not as athletic as other choreography but elegant none the less.
I also found it on youtube:

Tallchief was surely one of the greats.

Indeed Tallchief was one of the greats. Unfortunately, I was never
able to see her live, but we have the recordings made of her.
There are quite a number on youtube. One of my favourite DVDs is
"The Art of Maria Tallchief", which features the Bell Telephone Hour
and Radio Canada telerecodings.

I really like these old, single camera recordings and modern
directors could learn a lot from these. When they film a ballet with
multiple cameras, there are far too many rapid cuts to an alternative
view and I get very dizzy! It seems as though the directors have to
change view every three or four seconds. The flow of the performance
is lost.

Thanks for posting the link. I don't remember seeing that one before.
