Los Angeles Summer intensives

Hi,

My daughter is looking for a very good Summer ballet intensive. She
is a freshman at SUNY Purchase in dance. Last Summer she was at the
San Francisco Conservatory. This Summer I want to keep her local (Los
Angeles area: Pasadena) Any great ideas?

A couple of years ago I was in Los Angeles for a meeting at UCLA. I
went to the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica to take open
adult classes. I took good classes at the intermediate level from
experienced sensible teachers. They have morning and evening ballet
classes for adults. They allow single drop in classes. I got a class
card of four classes at a reduced rate. While not a structured
intensive your daughter could likely take 2 or 3 outstanding classes
seven days a week.

There was a day program for children and teens. That may also be
appropriate for your daughter. The teen program requires registration.

The studios were excellent. There was a shower in the men's dressing
room. This is a fine school for future professional ballet dancers.

I plan to return to the Westside School when I am in LA. It is superb.
